Day 89 - Curling

Curling!

Sorry again for not opening the makeshift space today. Wet Paint. I will be there tomorrow from noon until 6 so stop by if you're around.

In the meantime, I'm going curling. So it turns out my coveralls are versatile after all. And, as you know, they are still my only pants. We'll see how the shoes go. My feet might get a little chilly but I think I can handle it. Last week I went bowling and they let me bowl in my stocking feet because I didn't make my own bowling shoes. Anyhow, I'll post some curling pics later.

Day 88 - Blurry is Better

If you were planning to stop by the makeshift space tomorrow (Saturday), sorry but I painted the floor yesterday and the paint is still tacky (and fumey) so I won't be open after all. I will be there on Sunday though so please stop by if you're in the neighbourhood.

Day 87 - Painting Day

I'm wearing my coveralls as actual coveralls today since I will be painting the floor of the makeshift space. This is because I have come to the realization that coveralls are not so great as everyday-wear after all. I've tried them in several different contexts now only to find that they are a) noisy and b) difficult to make a trip to the bathroom in. So all this time I was thinking coveralls would turn out to be my favoured outfit and they turned out to be an all-covered Sham instead.

Day 80 - Clothing Sale Today

If you don't already know from my newsletter, I am having a clothing sale this evening at mooncruise, a shop in Gastown (Vancouver) from 5-9pm! And if you don't know about the sale it's possible that you also don't know about my 'clothing label' called Hunt & Gather. It is very small and random. It is one of the reasons I decided to do the makeshift project in first place since I noticed that I was often wearing at least one thing that I'd made myself. It made me wonder....hmmmm.... Could I??? Would I??? Anyhow, if you live in Vancouver stop by tonight at 235 Cambie St. between Water and Cordova. Hope to see you there.

Also, rest assured, the Super! Surprises! will not be available at the sale!

Day 79 - New Bohemian

The title potentially describes me better than it describes the outfit.

Day 78 - new laces = new shoes

Did anyone notice that I have practically new shoes? Actually I just changed the laces to black cord a few days ago but it really does feel like I have a new pair of shoes!

Days 76 & 77 - On the mend

Starting to feel a bit better after a weekend with Strep Throat. At least the weather was really lousy so I didn't feel so bad about staying in all weekend. One thing that cheered me up was this comment I received from someone in France on Day 73. It says:

ce n'est pas la première fois que je fais trainer mes yeux par ici, ...alors cette fois je pose un ccommentaire...
d'autant plus que cette fois encore je tombe des nues en voyant ce joli haut...

Since my French is pretty rusty i plugged it into a translator widget and got this:

especially since this time still I fall of dense clouds by seeing this pretty top...

By the way, many have asked how to view and leave comments on the blog. Just click on the time below the post or in the archive section, click on an individual day. I still haven't figured out how to change this aspect so if anyone has some blogging tips, I would gladly change the way this is set up.

Now, on to this Awesome picture from yesterday. It may appear as though I just crawled out of bed to take this picture and I will admit, it did happen that way. That's how dedicated I am. To not only force my sick self out of bed to take this picture but then to actually post it for all to see.

Day 75 - No Makeshift Showroom today

I apologize to anyone who was planning to stop by the makeshift showroom today. Two days ago I jinxed myself by telling some friends that I hadn't been sick in a long long time and sure enough, guess who has a cold now. I will be there next on November 20th. Sorry!

I've been making these apron/vests that are multi-functional, reversible and can be worn in different ways. I love the endless possibilities of the apron! This outfit is comprised of the same old boring clothes you've seen me in a million times but now they are transformed with the apron/vest!

Day 67 - What 10 hours of driving can look like

Day 66 - Advantages

How many of you can say that your socks exactly match your shirt today? Anyone? Anyone? At last, some good has come of this project. Maybe next week I'll have an entirely matching outfit - socks, underwear, skirt and top. Now that would really be aiming high, which by the way was my high school's motto (Aim High) though I'm not sure if this is really what they meant by it. I am going to my hometown this weekend (Radium Hot Springs, BC) to give a presentation on the project so maybe I'll look into it while I'm there. I have to say I am a bit nervous about the trip since I have to drive over two snow covered mountain passes and there may be a lot of snow on the ground when i get there. I don't know if my stapled together clog boots will suffice for that kind of weather but I did make some liners for them yesterday for extra warmth and comfort. I also made a bathing suit so that I can go to the hot springs which are truly awesome when it is so cold out. Best of all, I get to see my mom and dad. So there really are advantages to the project after all.
